Jira Project Fields and Values

Is there an easy way to get the Metadata around fields in Jira?

Data:

• Label
• API Name
• Description
• Field Type
• Values (Picklist, Mult-select, etc.)

I know there is a way to get the REST API information, but that is not very friendly to work with...

What problem are you trying to solve by doing this?  Knowing that may help the community to point you to useful references.
