This automation can send batched emails. it uses smart values that are not documented when you look at the available smart values.

{{authorInactivePages}}

{{authorInactivePages.first().author.emailAddress}}

I want to send this same batched email but to Page OWNERS not authors

{{ownerInactivePages}}

{{ownerInactivePages.first().owner.emailAddress}}

would be the logical replacement for what I want to do, but those don't seem to exist.

when this automation was first released I did ask the employee who posted about it if I could change it to owner and they said I could however it has never worked like that.

Any advice on how to achieve this automation that should be a pretty straight forward thing?

Hi @Guess_ Brandi N_

@Bill Sheboy is right.

There also seems to be an open feature request for this in general, CONFCLOUD-77884

You could also use API endpoint; api-pages-get and specify the ownerId, this should get you all the pages based on the specified owner.

Hi @Guess_ Brandi N_

Based upon the original announcement for those batched, Confluence smart values, there are ones by owner for the Premium and Enterprise license levels:

https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Confluence-articles/New-batch-notifications-and-look-up-capabilities-%EF%B8%8F/ba-p/2757589

I do not have one of those levels and so cannot test them to confirm that.  And, the Lookup Pages action does not support CQL for easy workarounds.

If you do not have Premium or Enterprise license levels, you could try this workaround:

  1. using the Send Web Request action, call the REST API endpoint for page search with CQL
  2. extract the distinct owners from the results, and
  3. use an advanced branch over the distinct owners
  4. inside of the branch, repeat the call from step 1, adding CQL to check the owner matches the distinct one from the branch
  5. send the email / notification for their results

Kind regards,
Bill
