Automation : sending email when i move a task ticket

Vincent Pollart January 15, 2025

Hello,
for the moment I only create independent task tickets in Jira Agile.
I would like to automate sending an email to my colleagues
when I move a task ticket from my "Waiting" column to my "To do" column
to notify them that work has been done.
If possible with the content of the ticket comment in the email.
THANKS

Hi Vincent - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Yes, you can create an automation rule based on an Issue Transitioned trigger that will then send an email.

I'm new to Jira Agile, can you give me some ideas for building my automation ? Thanks a lot.

That's a useful automation idea, Vincent! Jira Automation can definitely handle that. You can create a rule triggered by a status change (from "Waiting" to "To Do"), and use the "Send Email" action to notify your colleagues. You can include smart values to pull in comment content or ticket details into the email body. Just make sure the rule includes conditions to check the status transition accurately.
