Can we Auto Wrap Text in columns in the Assets macro

Heather Ronnebeck

Hey,

So we're using the Assets macro in Confluence and the team is trying to wrap the text in the columns inside the macro. However, we're having an issue doing that. We're trying to figure out if we can either do one of two things:

  1. Configure a way to wrap the text in the columns in the macro.
  2. Use some kind of markdown in Assets to make the text wrap to columns like line breaks.

Does anyone have any ideas on things we can try?

Thanks!

Hi @Heather Ronnebeck  👋

If you're open to exploring alternatives, you might want to try Simple Table for Confluence (it's free!).

It supports automatic text wrapping in table cells out of the box — no need to tweak CSS or use markdown tricks. You can:

  • Add columns and enter long text without worrying about overflow.
  • Control the column width if needed.
  • Let the content wrap naturally into multiple lines.

It’s lightweight and designed for this kind of use case — might be a good fit if Assets doesn’t give you the flexibility you're looking for.

Happy to show you how it works if you’re curious! 😊

Hey there Heather,

That is currently not an option with the Assets macro.

The closest I could find was CONFCLOUD-79033 so it sounds like we'll need a new Suggestion here. Feel free to open a Support ticket with us and we'll be glad to create a new one for you.

Meanwhile, you can try the following approaches while in Edit mode:

  1. expand the Assets macro with the double-arrow icon and "Go wide" or "Go full width"
  2. resize columns to allow more or less space, depending on the text being displayed

Hope this helps!
