Assets Schema - Can a parent object be used to query Child schemas?

I have a schema for my assets.  I also have a parent schema for locations with child schemas for the location type: Support Centers, retail locations, cloud

How can I create an attribute within my assets schema that can reference the parent schema where I can query for any of the child schemas for a referenced.  

I tried creating a reference to the parent schema, but it won't list anything from the child schemas.

Hi @Scott Wright 

On your schema configuration make sure to enable the option "Allow others to select objects from this schema"

This will allow you to reference objects from this schema.
