Assign ticket to the sender of the message on slack

The sender of the message on slack sends the message. I create the ticket from that message. On the ticket I'm the reporter. How do I configure so that the sender of the message becomes the reporter?

The native Jira Cloud for Slack integration that comes preinstalled in Jira Cloud is currently designed to use whoever creates the issue from Slack as the reporter. With the native integration, you would need to open the issue in Jira after it was created and manually change the reporter.

However, this sounds like the perfect use-case for Halp, which recently joined Atlassian. It's fairly configurable and has "recipes" to map info from Slack to fields in Jira. Check out the demo on the marketplace listing, as this might be helpful for you!

There is now a field for "reporter" that is mandatory, but will not work if you use "Person who used this workflow." I have a hunch that Slack is passing the user name instead of the full name. Is anyone familiar with a fix for this?

How are you creating the issues within Jira from the Slack messages? Is it a manual entry or are you using automation/a third party tool?
