Automating Release ID Assignment in Asset's Object Schema

I'm looking for advice on automating the assignment of a release version ID to an Object schema. This is to enhance governance by efficiently tracking the product version implemented by each client. We currently use GitLab for DevOps management, and our product teams utilize the Release features within Jira Projects.

How can we best achieve the integration of this data into client-based Assets?
