Hi there!
We’ve been using Jira Service Management for various business needs for almost a year now. In my role, I mainly work with a project dedicated to our IT help desk. I have a solid understanding of how our help desk project works since I spend most of my day in it. I’m familiar with how workflows, queues, and the automation's are set up, and I can explain how they connect to our schema to pull relevant information on the end user. However, that’s about the extent of my knowledge.
Our entire Atlassian organization is managed by one person, which can be overwhelming at times - especially now that more departments are starting to use JSM for their own needs and need help getting started. Recently, I was asked to look into Atlassian certifications so I can assist more effectively. I’ve been exploring the available certifications, but I’m a bit unsure of where to start.
I’ve considered the ACP-420 certification, but I’m worried it might be too advanced for me at this stage. I also completed the ACA-910 courses, but I found it a bit too niche, focusing mainly on IT, which might not help me support projects outside of IT. Has anyone else been in a similar situation or have any advice on where to start? I’d really appreciate any guidance! :)
Hi @Jake , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your post.
If you have already got the ACA-910, it sounds like next logical step would be for you to study towards the ACP-420, https://community.atlassian.com/learning/landing/certification-detail/managing-jira-service-projects-for-cloud
The system administration certifications for cloud, the ACP-120, https://community.atlassian.com/learning/landing/certification-detail/jira-administration-for-cloud and ACP-520, https://community.atlassian.com/learning/landing/certification-detail/atlassian-cloud-organization-admin ,could also be options for you, in terms if you want to broaden your knowledge but it also depends on what your company will support. So, for them, it might make the most financial sense for you to invest in the ACP-420, where you are most likely to be successful.
I have the ACP-120, 520 and the ACA-910, like you, but I don't yet have the ACP-420. I would encourage you to take a look at the list of topics for all 3 certifications and, if you have the opportunity, to discuss this with your line manager to see what makes sense for you and for your company.
If you have any other questions or doubts, please just write again here.
Best of luck with whatever you decide!
Cheers
Thank you so much for your reply! I will look into these :D
