Create due date field that will trigger actions

Hello Team....we are a software company that sells licences based on a time period (6 months or a year). We have a portal setup for customers to request a licences which triggers tasks to set the customer in the support portal once a licences is approved. I would like a email reminder be sent to the customer when they are two weeks out from licence expiration...and then if no renewal is received within a week of expiration then a task is auto created to remove customer from service portal. Can this be done?

On possible idea/solution:

  1. Create a unique issuetype, say client-contract
  2. When you start a new client contract period create this issue and include the expiration date in either the Due Date or create a custom date field (but DD is fine)
  3. Create an automation that runs daily and inspect the due date on all open "client-contract" issues. For each one that is about to expire send an email to the client. The client might be the reporter or some custom field

Now this would solve one piece but there isn't a way to automatically remove a customer but you could certainly use the above method to send an email to the admin to remove customers that have expired contracts.
