Hi there,

I have an Assets field on a portal form where an asset can be selected.

Is it possible to populate on the form some fields based on that data.

So if I am putting in a ticket, I select an asset name, then the Owner, Model, Assigned date are populated on some fields on the form also?

I think this is unlikely as there is no trigger to go get the information from Assets, but just curious if anyone had any clever ideas?

I am stuck when editing an object from the form.  If I search for 'Microsoft Project' and there are 10 lines in Assets and I need to change who the license is assigned to, I have no idea which record is which.  There are just 10 lines of Microsoft Project in the drop down box.

Thanks.

Hi @Ste404 ,

I'm not sure if i understand your question correctly. In "Assets", you have a certain object type, with 10 objects called "Microsoft Project" ?  And each object is linked to a different owner, assigned date, .... ?

You have already created a custom field on this object type? If so, this custom field will display 10 times "Microsoft Project" in the dropdown, and you have no idea which one belongs to which user?

When you go to the "Contexts and Default Value" configuration of your "Assets" custom field, there is a section "User Interaction". There is a field "Allow search filtering by these attributes" where you can define which object attributes need to be displayed in the portal dropdown field.

I hope this helps.
