Do we need to re-purchase plugin licenses when moving to jira data center from jira server

Hi,

We are looking to move our jira server into jira data center and we have lot of plugins in our jira server instance. So, should we buy those plugin licenses again or we can apply same license in jira data center plugins also? Please assist.

Going to Data Center you will require Data Center licenses for all main applications (JSW/JSM).

Plugins will require Data Center licenses as well - it will otherwise error out stating you have an application license mismatch.

What I am not sure is whether you must purchase a brand new license, or if you can simply upgrade your existing Server license at a discount (I think the latter is true, I think there is an option for that during checkout, but I don't myself buy licenses so I don't get around the purchase cart very often to know for sure).

In most cases you will have to re-buy them, but message the vendors. Some are very flexible and will give you the license for free or will ask you to pay the difference.
