We have a security group that receives security email alerts to a particular email. Whenever an email is received by the shared inbox (SG@ABC.com) which is not having an username of password, it should create an issue. Since this is a Shared inbox , we cannot configure username or password in email configuration. This is not a DL but a shared mail box. We should not convert a shared mailbox into an account since it requires extra license and users will have to login into check the email in case an account created. Users never login, they just receive the alert. When the alert is received in that shared inbox mail , it should create a ticket in JIRA
@John Antony A You will have to configure username and password in the email configuration. This means that you need to have an email account and not a distribution list. Since you currently use a DL I would suggest setting up an email address and all new emails from the DL get forwarded to it. Or you can convert the DL over to an account. We had a similar change on a new service desk we setup and we ended up converting the DL over to an account. This would be my recommendation.
