We are currently facing a challenge where an individual is altering organization names within Jira. This is adversely affecting our SLAs, automations, and dashboards. Is there a method to identify the person responsible for these changes? I have already checked the Audit logs but couldn't locate any relevant information.

Hi @Kamran Ahmed

I think this is not something that is tracked in Jira in any way. Any of your agents could have made the change. :/

Hi @Kamran Ahmed ,

If the audit logs in jira arent providing the necessary information to identify the individual responsible for altering organization names,

There are steps you can follow:

Access Controls and Permission Review : Review the permission settings within jira to ensure that only autorized individuals have the bility to modify organization name.

User Interviews : Conduct interviews with the user who have access to modify organization names. Ask them if they have made any changes regarding this in recent times or hwetherb any of the person have any idea regarding the others who have posted anything.

Monitor Activity In Real_time : If possible let the Real_Time monitoring tools or Scripts that trrack changes made to organization names as they Occur. This could be invloved in the Third-Party Applications.

Hi @Kamran Ahmed ,

If the adit logs in jira arent providing the necessary information to identifythe individual responsible for altering organization names.

Acess Controls and Permissions Review : Review the permission  settings within Jira to ensure that only authorized individuals have the ability to modify organization names. If necessary, tighten the access controls to restrict who can make such changes.

User Interviews : Conduct interviews withthe users who have access to modify organization names. Ask them if they have made any changes in recent times or whether ther are even aware of anyone who have altered anything regarding this.

Monitor Activity in Real-Time : If possible, Implement real-Time monitoring tools or script that track changes made to organzition names as they ocur. This could involve custom scripting or the use of Third-party monitoring tools integrated withthe Jira.

Review Integration Points : Check if there are any integrationor automation rules set up within Jira might be Inadvertently modifying organiztion name. Somtimes, Changes made outside of Jira Can also face Consequences.

Consult Jira Administrator : Reach out to Jira Administrator or support resources within your organization or community forums for additional guidance and insights. They might have encountered similar issues or have expertise in Troubleshooting Jira configuration problems.

Hi @Kamran Ahmed ,

Changing the organization name itself should have no user-facing effects. The only place it should be visible is to you within admin.atlassian.com. That also means that changing the organization name won't trigger a change in your instance name.
