How do I add a PDF to an issue for my customer portal?

Admin IA October 29, 2024

I need a way to display a PDF or Word document directly as an issue in the customer portal. I'm not talking about allowing customers to upload documents to an issue. Ideally, this issue request would contain the document as readable content, without any questions or forms with it. Currently, using external resources only displays the first three related links with the rest hidden and not its then not part of a specific Issue Module. Is there a way to add such documents and being able to display fully.

Hello @Admin IA

You might want to try using the Smart Forms for Jira add-on for requests that need to display Word or PDF content. With Smart Forms for Jira, you can include embedded content as a form element, such as a PDF or Word document from any drive with open access.

The form itself is versatile and can be shared by link with anyone—not just limited to the Customer Portal. However, you can also add it directly to your JSM Customer Portal. Here are two options for placement:

  1. As a Second Form: After your customer submits a JSM request, you can set up Smart Forms for Jira to appear as a second form. This way, once the initial JSM request is submitted, the Smart Form (with your embedded document) will automatically display.

  2. In the Related Resources Section: Alternatively, you can add the Smart Form as a link in the Related Resources section on your Customer Portal. Users can click this link to access the form containing the embedded PDF or Word document.

These options allow you to provide customers with readable, embedded documents seamlessly in the JSM Customer Portal.
