How to change fields that appear on workflow screens

Tom Horton

I'm trying to remove custom fields that are appearing on my workflow screens when I transition to a status in a workflow. For example, when I move the status to In Progress, the popover screen that appears has custom fields that I want to not show. These same custom fields don't show on the Creation or Edit screens. I successfully removed them from the Creation and Edit screen, but I'm having a tough time finding where I edit the workflow, i.e. In Progress screen.

Thanks!

@Tom Horton -

Hi Tom:

You will need to access the WF in question and identify the transition in question, then adjust the screen used associated with the WF transition.

How to find the screen associated with a WF transition

Project settings >> Workflows

1) Edit the specific WF in question

2) Click on the specific transition in question

3) In the transition UI, click on the screen used for the specific transition.  (In the image below, I don't have a screen.  But if it did, then you will see the screen.

NOTE - You will also need to ensure the following items before you make the adjustments against the transition WF screen because you don't want to impact other projects/workflows in used-

  • The WF and the transition screen are not shared with other projects or other WFs.  You can determine that by accessing the System Clogwheel icon "Settings" >> Issues >> Screens

  • You need to ensure the field that you want to removed from the screen is not mandatory (called out by the Validator tab associated with the transition).  If it is, then your transition will failed to be completed after the field removal.

Hope this helps.
