How to import duplicate objects with the same identifier value in Assets?

Connie H Johnston October 3, 2024

I'm am trying to import data in an Assets Object Type. The label attribute is set to allow duplicates; however, if my import source has a duplicate entries for the label only ONE entry is imported. Is there a setting on the import configuration that will ALLOW duplicates to be created or another work around??

NOTE-I'm having the same problem with JSON and CSV imports.

Hi!

I had the same issue, when I was importing CSV file. I haven't used JSON.

For me, the solution was to use the checkboxes under Identifier column. You can choose multiple actually. And it doesn't have to be the label.

I think that it works like this: if one checked Data source field value isn't unique, then it checkes the next ticked Data source field. The next (second/third) should differ between assets to create a unique entry. For example if names (as label) are the same, then serial numbers should differ, or department etc. I think You should have something unique in one of the ticked fields of the assets to create it,

It also helps to choose another field with rather unique values, if you have some data missing from the import file for the label.
