Hi, could someone please explain the process for updating the asset from Excel? At the moment I'm currently experiencing Jira removing the assets and then recreating the assets instead of updating the information on the asset. The asset is also removed from the associated ticket field. The created date changes but not the updated date.
Hi, @Hollie
Welcome to Atlassian Community
Please, can you clarify, what information do you need?
Import to Assets can be made with CSV file, it's type of table file, where data is stored in rows, in plain text, divided by ; (usually). First row - is name of columns.
This file can be made from Excel, when saving file select type of saved file as CSV.
You have to create new import, set path to file with data (or upload it to service), and then set mapping for columns.
More information about import from CSV can be found here:

Hi Evgeniy. Thank you for your response. I understand how to initially set this up, I've created the table, uploaded and mapped it correctly.
The problem is updating the table. The information is managed in another system. I want to expose it, not manage changes in Jira. Therefore I need to update the asset if the information changes in a row (for instance the customer changes their phone number).
Currently, when I reupload the file all assets are removed and reuploaded instead of updated. The flow-on effect is assets are deleted from previously assigned issues and treated as new assets, not an updated asset.
If a change is made in another data source and the asset is unique the information should update, not be removed and recreated.

Hi, @Hollie
It's strange. Objects are deleted only when in import is enabled checkbox "Delete objects, not found in source file". So, you have to check import settings, and what attribute is used as unique sign, to map object in source file to object in Assets.
Can you show as screenshot of import for this object category, made by you?

Hi Evgeniy
It appears the problem happens when I force my 'Client Code' to be Key. My 'Client Code' is the identifier, therefor I've assumed it would be Key.
I've reworked the test, marking the 'Client Code" as just the identifier and removing the key as a destination attribute. This appears to have worked and the file is updating the record.
Maybe my understanding of what I thought Key meant is not right.
Thanks again :)
