I need to investigate which areas are affected when modifying project key

I want to change the key of the project, what areas do I need to check that are affected by this?

The project has generated hundreds of requests, but it has not yet interacted with the external system, and I am not sure whether the internal jira system is affected by the key changes.

The change of project key won't affect any parts of the internal system or data loss. Both new and old project keys give users access to the same destination. 

Just note that any external systems/integrations might get impacted due to the change.

Hi @Elliot Huang and welcome,

changing the project key has no side effects on JIRA. Jira will keep old and new project key so that all links, all filter and so on will work with both old and new key.
