I have five request types and I put them in groups because I didn't like their order, but they really don't need to be grouped so I removed the groups. Now the request types don't show in the portal. How do I get my original list of request types back on the portal?
Please take a look your project's setup - Project settings >> Request management >> Service requests and assign your request types back to the "General" request group. "General" group is the default JSM setup where all request types go into. When you uncheck the group association for a give request type, the request type will automatically get move into the "Request type hidden from portal" section.
You can just locate your request type(s) and reassign it back to the General portal group.
Removing a group doesn't delete the request type(s) for your project.
Hope this helps.

For me I had to go to Channel & Self Service -> portal setting and customize by adding a group named "General". That worked. I didn't get there from Request management. Tip on creating a general group did the trick, but we got there in different ways I think.

To create new portal group, you can also go to what I suggested. Once you select the request type, then you can click on the "..." under the Actions column >> under the "Portal Groups" section, click on Edit.
In the pop-up window, you will also see the ability to create new group.
I am glad you found the other way as mentioned by you in your reply.

When I select the request type in the project the "..." does not give me the same options you say. I have "Request types" not "Request Management" and no option for "Service Requests." The only thing I got under the action column for my request types is the option to delete. I think we have different versions. Or maybe its different for team managed projects vs. company? Not sure. But it was your hint that led to the solution, but not how you got there.
