Hi all,
We are currently running a JSM trial pre us moving to the platform and I now have seen first hand how empty Insight is for Cloud :/
I was wondering if there is a way to look at the structure of the templates that server or data centre use or just some over all structure tips.
I saw something somewhere about setting up main areas for assets like "User Hardware Assets", "Software Assets", "Infrastructure" and then it looks like we can build object categories within that "Monitors", "Workstations", "Laptops" etc and then have attributes within those second level categories to where we can import the specific chunks of assets?
Just fishing around in the dark at the moment and going to track down some youtube videos but just hoping for some user based information from those who may have already had to deal with this from scratch.
An example of where I am stuck with the conceptual logic is an attribute for the user assigned to the object. Obviously I need to be able to link assets in Insight to users in JSM, how do I know how to setup the field correctly and what to actually use to map the data. We will be bringing in data from another asset management system that we have to use for procurement and such (which we do now nicely with our ITSM solution), but I am not sure what to do mapping wise for the customer in JSM and the customer coming from the asset system.
Maybe it is obvious when I setup a schema, with object types, with objects having attributes but at the moment there are missing pieces to the puzzle.
Cheers
