Is it possible to fill request participants with Automation for Jira (smart value) based on a User group or a project role?

Situation:

I’ve got 8 users in a user-group (usergroups synced with ActiveDirectory)

When 1 of this users is reporting a issue they want the other 7 users as Request Participants.

Is it possible to fill in the user based on a user group or on a project-role?

Hello @Marco Brundel

Thank you for reaching out.

I'm afraid it is not possible to add a whole group/role to the request participant field since it is a user picker field, additionally, I believe this is not a good practice. Allow me to provide you with some concepts to confirm we are on the same page:

The request participant field is used to share the request with other external customers that might be involved in the issue, as explained in the documentation below:

What are request participants?

Agents added to this field will be considered customers in the application. With that information in mind, it is definitely not a good practice to add groups of agents or project roles to this field.

That being said, can you please provide us with the main reason that you want the request participants to be filled with a specific group or role?

If you want to ensure that a specific group of agents will be notified about issue updates, you can configure another custom field to achieve this goal. These would be the steps:

  1. Create a Group for each team you have in your Service desk
  2. Create a Group Picker (multiple choice) Custom Field, adding it to your Service desk screens
  3. Navigate to your project > Project settings > Notifications (Not customer notifications) and add the custom field you created to be notified with the updates you want

Doing the steps above, once you select the group (team) you need in the custom field of the issue, all the Agents added to that group will be notified about that specific issue.

Let us know if you have any questions.
