We have just migrated from server to cloud and are finishing up so post-migration mitigation when I found an issue with Assets that I am not sure is a deliberate loss of functionality or a bug.
In the server version of Assets (formally Insight) any Jira user could be given permission to view and edit the object schemas, however in cloud this does not seem to be the case.
My question is am I experiencing a bug or has Atlassian restricted access to Assets to users with Service Management licenses only, in what would be seen as a major backward step for this particular feature.
Hi @Michael Wheatstone ,
please take a look to the Asset Permissions https://confluence.atlassian.com/servicemanagementserver/configuring-roles-and-permissions-1044784414.html

Hi @Fabio Racobaldo _Herzum_ unfortunately that guide is for data center and server 5.9
As I stated I have had this problem since moving to cloud, as even though I have put users in the user, developer, and manager roles in the schema permissions they were still unable to view or edit objects in the schema.
This has led me to believe that Atlassian may have removed the ability to interact with assets from users who do not have a service management license or I have encountered a bug and need to report it :)

@Michael Wheatstone Hi Michael, were you able to solve this?
I am having the same complication.

I have came across the same scenario. Seems like Assets is now only bundled with JSM so you would need to have a JSM license to view and edit an asset. From Jira Software you can only select an asset from ex. from a drop down menu. The use of Assets is not that clear from Atlassian's website and would appreciate if someone from their end replies to this.
