Jira now not able to copy & paste from forms attached to Jira Service Desk tickets.
We have forms attached to tickets with job descriptions for staff, before we used to be able to copy & paste into AD, but since a few months ago this has stopped,
eg. when you copy something like "XYZ Administration Analyst" all you get in the paste is "ion Analyst", this is getting to be a pain having to retype everything from the form, especially when the description is over 30 characters long.
I can imagine that this must be very annoying. While I don't know the exact reason and source of error for this, I do wonder if it's in something at Atlassian changed or maybe rather something that Microsoft has changed in AD. Another - very likely option - could also be your browser. Browsers undergo regular updates and some do the weirdest things. Can you confirm whether the issue persists also when you use other browsers to copy the text and then add it to the AD?
If you already ruled out various browsers, can you please try the following to see if that helps?
Looking forward to your answer.
Greetings
Philipp
Hi Philipp,
I'd already tried copying the copied text to Notepad and that's when I'd discovered the fault (partial copied text being pasted) with JSM, so is a bit pointless testing on another browser as the copied buffer is wrong.

Hi @Shandy Tailor
Jira’s Forms panel isn’t designed for rich copy/paste. Atlassian doesn’t document a guarantee that text copied directly from the embedded form will preserve/transfer cleanly. Instead, Atlassian points admins to view/download form responses and/or work with the values via Automation or export.
If your workflow depends on reusing or cloning form data (like job details, onboarding info, or approvals), Smart Jira Forms handles this much better:
✅ Every submitted form — even if its elements aren’t mapped to Jira fields — is automatically copied along with the work item when it’s cloned or duplicated.
✅ All responses remain visible in the cloned form, so nothing gets lost.
✅ You can still map fields to the Description or other Jira fields for easy copy/paste if needed.
✅ Forms can also be exported
That means your team can safely clone work items (for recurring requests or staffing templates) and keep all attached forms and responses intact — no data re-entry required.
Hope this clears up the limitation with native forms and gives you a reliable path forward.

This response is totally useless as @Philipp Sendek suggests Atlassian has made a change that stopped this working now, as the copy & paste worked fine in all aspects up until a few months ago, I suggest you go back to you developers and ask them what they did to stop this working for everyone. :)
