Has anybody found a functional workaround for this bug that allows any logged in user to request access to a Confluence space even without a Confluence license simply because the JSM knowledge base permissions are set to 'All logged-in users'?

It's ridiculous because it blows up the space admins mailbox, it doesn't actually give the user a license, and there's no way to block it from what I can tell.

I would love to use Confluence as a knowledge base for our JSM project, but this bug makes it nearly unbearable.

Interesting... 👀

Never even knew this was the problem. Well, if nothing, I've dropped a vote on the linked bug.

However, I'm wondering @Mathew Lederman , how do these users/customers find restricted spaces? They would still need to have a direct link to a space or content within that space to request access.

In any case, not so friendly user experience for sure.

@Tomislav Tobijas direct links are posted in Slack for support, shared by other team members, posted in Teams channels, etc. There are any number of ways for a user to get a link to a specific Confluence page/space.

The main problem is, this isn't specific to restricted spaces. It's non-licensed users requesting access to any space.

Got it. Definitely seems like this can cause administrative overload if customers start spamming you with requests. 😕

Side note - I've found some similar feature suggestion related to disabling 'request access' option on a site/product level: CONFCLOUD-78577: Option to Deactivate Space Access Request Feature for Admins
