My searches so far did not have any concrete result and since I am not that proficient in Jira, I need the community's assistance. Is there a way to add chat functionality with Service Desk customers? Can this be integrated in the Service Desk screen? If this is not possible from Atlassian products, is there a cloud plugin that could assist us in this?

Thank you for this but I cannot see how this could integrate with Service Desk. I can see the fact that you can add unlimited users (including your customers) but as far as I understand, this would mean that the customers would need to open a ticket in Service Desk and then access a different application (stride) to start chatting...
Am I right?

That is right. Stride is an external application. But it is integrated with Jira by the plugin I provided.
There is no built-in chat functionality in Jira. Only comments.
