Management of active teams in the new Jira navigation bar?

Hello everyone,

As you can see in the screenshot, every user is currently able to create a new team.

I'm trying to figure out how to restrict this via permissions, but it doesn't seem to work with the new navigation bar.

Users can only hide the option, but I don’t understand why it worked in the old UI.

Is this a BUG?

I had disabled the following setting:

“Team-managed projects – Allow project administrators to create simplified service projects that don’t affect settings or shared configurations within the organization.”

Hi, @Dimitrios Kouroumichakis! 👋

That setting you mentioned only controls the ability to create team-managed projects, not the creation of teams in the new top navigation bar.

Currently in Jira Cloud, any user can create a team via the “Teams” menu in the top nav, and there isn't a permission setting to restrict this yet.

You're not alone in this concern - many admins have raised similar questions. It's not a bug, but a missing feature in terms of admin control. You can consider voting for a feature request on Atlassian’s public Jira here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-75734

Hope this helps! ✨
