Moving an issue within the same project

Hello everybody,

I am trying to move an issue within the same project from "service request" issue type to "service request with approval" issue type. The problem is that i want to move the issue to the "Waiting for approval status". Instead of this Jira tries to move it directly to "Waiting for support status".

Is there any possibility to do this move to the "Waiting for approval" status?

Moving an issue is not a simple task, but Jira tries to keep the process as simple as possible, and only asks for the required data it needs to change as you change the structure of the issue.  It won't ask for a new status if the current status exists in the workflow you are telling it to use for the new issue.

So, no, you don't get to choose a new status during move when the current one is valid, you'll need to transition the issue through to where you want it.
