I need to generate a report that shows how many tickets that I am included as a participant.

Run a search for "particpant = currentUser()", save it and use it in reports and dashboard gadgets

Actually this syntax. 
"Request participants" = currentuser()

and if you consider “watcher” as a participant then…

"Request participants" = currentuser() or watcher = currentUser()
