I have a requirement to pull data from email request in Jira Service Management, basically the description part of email has all the required data that i want to fetch and fill my custom fields in Jira Ticket,

However, the problem is the value being fetch is post-fixed by *, to be clear the value being displayed in custom filed appear as below. Is there a way to remove that extra "*", can anyone suggest me tweak to my current Smartvalue {{issue.description.substringBetween("Contact: ","\n")}}

What type of field is "User Name"?
Is the Service project a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project?
What happens if you print the same smart value to the rule Audit Log using a Log action?
So far I have not been able to replicate your issue using a Company Managed Service project and using that smart value to set the Summary field (a short text field), sending the email to the Service project from gmail.
