Hello, community!
Could someone please explain the purpose of DataManager?
I thought it would be the solution I needed to synchronize external data sources with my JSM Cloud assets. However, all I can do is create a DataManager object based on a PervasiveSQL database.
How can I synchronize DataManager objects with asset objects? Even if it becomes possible to transfer a "DataManager saved search" to my import profiles in the future, it still won't help me because I have to import data manually.
There is also no way to synchronize data during import. For example, if only one phone number changes in a data record, it is not recognized during import. Currently, this is also the case with CSV imports. If data records are deleted from the CSV file, the asset/object import does not recognize this either.
So: What is the usecase for the DataManager?
Hi @Heiko Lotz
DataManager is to get data from sources or other applications and you can pre filter them and combine them, then you are able to move this information in to assets.
Then you will be able to use the data in work items and request types.
Find all documentation here, connect-cleanse-reconcile-data-with-assets-data-manager
I think I have found the missing link between the DataManager objects and my assets: After creating the DataManager object, I export my result-list as a CSV file, download it, and import it as a CSV file into my assets.
My conclusion: This process cannot be automated, so I am unable to synchronize an external data source with my assets. I am still limited to manual export/import.

Hi @Heiko Lotz
You are correct there, this is not implemented yet.
Do keep in mind that this was a 3rd party product Atlassian has bought and integration can take time.
