Approval or Task for Approver OR deputy

Dear Jira Community,

I am facing an issue, that approvals often can not be done in time, because the approver is not available, on vacation or not responding in time.

The IT department in charge of Jira ITSM says, that there is no way to make an "Or" approval in Jira ITSM, which I can't believe.

Are they right? If I enter an approver and a second person (deputy), isn't it technically possible, that if only one of them approved the task, the workflow/ticket continues? Is it always mandatory, to have the approval from both if 2 persons are entered?

With Approval Path for Jira, you have the flexibility to configure delegations or utilize group steps. This allows you to determine the number of approvals necessary for a step to be deemed as approved

Welcome to the Atlassian community!

Sounds like you may need to add delegation workflows while your approvers are out of office.

You can do this with a Marketplace App.

If you're on Data Center (or in Server, you could also get a Data Center license added to your instance): https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1225037/keychain-delegation-for-jira?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview. I haven't tested this app, but they're quite active in the Community, if the app doesn't solve your use case you may be able to have your requirement added to their roadmap.

If you are in cloud, then you can use resolution's Out of Office Assistant. Please note that I am the app's product owner, and there may be other apps out there for this job.

Hello, I'm not talking about active delegation, I'm talking about a "OR" instead of a "AND" approval, which the IT states is not possible.

Better Explained: I want to send an approval to Mr. X, Mr. Y and Mr. Z. If Mr. Y is approving, the approval process is finished.

At the moment Mr X,Y AND Z has to approve to finish the process.
