Assign workflow to project

Kirsty Gray February 4, 2020

I have created a new workflow to be assigned to a project and also created a workflow scheme and assigned the workflow to the scheme. The workflow is currently showing as inactive.

The workflow scheme i have created is also showing as inactive.

How do i make these active and assign them to my project?

I have looked on the forum and read that I need to create an issue type scheme and associate my project to that scheme first. When i try to do this i'm getting a message saying 'No projects available to be associated with scheme.'

Fast losing patience with a system that is really difficult to configure!!

Go to the project where you wish to assign the workflow/scheme. Go to Project settings > workflows and click add workflow > existing workflow and find yours. Finally associate the workflow to whichever issuetypes you want.

Thanks for the reply however, i don't have an option for workflows under project settings.

Then you are using Next-gen project which changes things. Please verify this by looking to the bottom left and see if you see "You're in a next-gen project".

Traditional workflows do not apply to NG projects where the workflows are inherently built in and created as you build your board.

Given this, let me inquire into what you are trying to accomplish so that we can see if you can do so in the NG environment. If not then you would either have to accept NG limitations or switch to Classic.

Yes its a next-gen project.

Is there a way i can change the project to classic? Or would it mean creating it again from scratch?

Yes please see this article - migrate-between-next-gen-and-classic-projects

Understand that, how clean things go here will completely depend upon your current NG project and how you set up your Classic project that you move issues into. I would suggest setting up the Classic, creating a few test issues in the NG, move them and inspect. Once it all looks good proceed w/ the real issues. Note, you will loose any NG features, e.g. Roadmap.

By the way - your workflow is shown as inactive because it is not assigned to any project. Assigning it to a project as Jack mentioned above makes it active.
