We need a KB solution where customers can browse the articles without having to create an account. Is this possible with JIRA Service Desk?

Thank you. That's what I was looking for, but not the answer I was hoping for :-( I completely agree with all the comments on that page. JIRA Service desk trial over, 10 minutes after it started! We'll keep using JIRA and Confluence though.
