Can't select users in dropdown menu

Jonas Dahlström April 30, 2025

Hi,

Some of our users aren't able to select users in a dropdown menu. Take for example the following portal: https://stillfront.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/45/group/55/create/145

There's a dropdown to select a single user called Requesting For, where some of our users aren't able to see or select any users.

We've enabled the absolutely majority of our users in the global permission field Browse users and groups, so this permission shouldn't be hindering users from picking or viewing users in dropdown menus like this.

Since this portal is meant for all of ours users in our workspace we'd like it to be available for anyone to do so. What are we missing?

Thank you!

I resolved it.

The issue was the project settings > customer permissions > customer sharing > Customers can search for other customers within their organizations

When instead it should be set to: Customers can search for other customers within their project or organizations

Thanks everyone for trying to help!

Hi @Jonas Dahlström

Welcome to the community.

Can you show the configuration of the custom field, is there a group restriction set in the custom field context?

Hi @Jonas Dahlström , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your post.

The 'Requesting For' dropdown, is it a custom field you set up or is it the standard field, like this one -

If it is this field ^, you would need to enable everyone who needs to be able to open tickets for someone else as an agent, which is probably not very feasible, license-wise.

If this is a custom field you created, please check the configuration of this as well, if the users have been restricted to a certain group.

If you have more questions or doubts, please write us again here.

Best wishes

Hi Valerie,

Thank you for your reply.

I just identified that this is actually a multiple user picker dropdown menu, although it's still viable for the use-case.

This is a custom field which I've set up myself, so it's not the default one. There must be some sort of permission, because I can select users for example. Although I can't for sure say which permission I'm missing here.
How can I check if which users are restricted to a certain group?

I mainly want anyone to be able to select from all users in our workspace.
