Can we translate options for custom fields in forms for JSM

Fadi Messaoudi April 16, 2025
I understand that translating custom field options is not currently supported and that there's a feature request for it. I will definitely vote for it and share my feedback.
Regarding the workaround, I am wondering if there's any solution to translate options for custom fields directly within forms? I am asking because I want to avoid linking form fields to Jira fields if possible.
Also, the plugin I tried was "Translation for Jira Service Management".

Hi Fadi,

Unfortunately, this functionality is not available for the time-being. We have a feature request reported for it: JRACLOUD-40049 Allow translation of custom field options. This is already under consideration, so hopefully we see it released soon!

We recommend that you hit the Vote for this issue button, watch the ticket for future updates, and leave a comment to convey the impacts you experience to our product team.

Our Implementation of New Features Policy provides insights into our prioritisation process.

In the meantime, please take a look at the suggestions by other contributors before me.

Hi @Fadi Messaoudi

Can I ask you why the Translation for Jira Service Management app wasn't ok for you? I'm working with the team that's developing it and we'd really appreciate the feedback. Maybe there's something we can improve or help you with? :)

Hi @Fadi Messaoudi

See this artivle on from translations: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/add-translations-to-a-form/

So you can translate a form and the options if you use no linked Jira Field, as stated by yourself these can't be translated.

Hi @Fadi Messaoudi

They can, but only if you don't link a form field to a Jira field.

This is also stated on the KB article.

Hi,

You can translated custom fields on forms using the documentation below, unless the fields are locked then you can't translate them.
