Hi @Irina Murisic ,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

You can't copy a project, but you can create a new one and inherit the settings of the original one.

Best regards,

Kris

Hello @Irina Murisic

I definitely agree with Susan and Kris about the shared settings option.

In addition to it, I would recommend trying our app Elements Copy & Sync to clone all the issues from your original project to the new one.

You'll be able to clone a full hierarchy of issues with all their content (summary, description, custom fields, comments, attachments, etc).

You can check the guide here.

The app is for free during 30 days (and it stays free under 10 users).

Hi @Irina Murisic , Welcome to the Community!

As @Kris Dewachter said, you can create a new project and "copy over" the same settings as an existing project. Here's a little more detail:

Open the Create project screen > choose the template you want (should be the same template as the existing project) > Use template button > complete the form INCLUDING clicking the Share settings with an existing project checkbox > Create project button. The "share" checkbox is what enables the new project to use all the settings of an existing project:

If you want those two projects to share all the schemes, workflows, screens, etc. and keep them "in sync" (that is, if you make a change to one of those projects and want it to also change in the other project), then you don't need to do anything else and the two projects will be linked in that way.

If you do want some or all of the new project's settings, schemes, screens, etc. to be different, you'll need to make copies of those items in the new project and rename them so they're unique to the new project. You can "mix and match" -- for example, you can use the same workflow(s) for both projects and make some of the schemes and screens unique to the new project (and so, if you change them, those changes won't affect the other project). For this task, it's helpful to use the Project settings > Summary screen to identify what you want to change and get to those features quickly.

Good luck!

Hi @Irina Murisic and welcome to the community!

While Jira doesn't offer a direct “copy project” feature in Jira Service Management, there are some great ways to achieve similar results:

  • You can create a new project and select the “Share settings with an existing project” option to replicate settings like workflows, schemes, and permissions.
  • If you need to clone issues as well, you can try our app Deep Clone for Jira, which supports cloning configurations and transferring issues, saving time on project replication with the Project Clone feature.
