I'm curious why Jira Service Management doesn't allow us to duplicate reports and series. Currently, I have to manually recreate them using filters, which is quite time-consuming. Does anyone have any workarounds, or is there any indication that Atlassian plans to add a duplication feature?

As far as I know, there are currently no workarounds for this. You need to manually create a new series each time. Also, I haven't managed to find any open suggestions related to what you're asking.
With that being said, you can always reach out to Atlassian Support and discuss it with them. Support team can create a new request if one already doesn't exist.
A note from my side is that I haven't seen Atlassian working on those custom/system reports or on dashboards and gadgets for a while. Most ofthe effort when it comes to reporting goes to Atlassian Analytics.
