Does anyone have any info on this error?
I'm trying to configure the Insight Discovery tool, and looking through the logs I am seeing this line consistently. And I can't seem to figure out what it might be referring to.
Additionally, does anyone have any info on how the PowerShell-based patterns work? The documentation is not particularly clear.
Thank you.
Hi Tyler,
I had this error when we were trying to use Power Shell patterns with Discovery for the first time, although there was no error using regular patterns (WMI).
We noticed that the user configured in Discovery credentials was the problem, which didn't have administrator privileges. After we used another user that had those privileges, the scan with Power Shell patterns worked perfectly.
About how the PowerShell-based patterns work, I haven't found any documentation, but if you want to view what those patterns do, try to look for "pattern" folder inside Discovery directory. All Discovery patterns are stored there, and you can open those files to see their classes.
I hope that was helpful.
Well, ultimately, the PS patterns are the ones I'm trying to get working. When I check the .log files, I see calls and results for WMI classes but nothing for PS.
I checked in the Discovery tool, and I have the "Use PS patterns" box checked, but I do not see any sign that they are running. We've even tried running scans using accounts with higher permissions, and nothing seems to work.
I've also found the patterns folder, but I feel like I'm missing a step with these PS patterns, but nothing is telling me what I am missing.
