Hello,
Company that I work for is implementing JIRA Premium.
My team's task is to prepare the analysis layer. I've checked "Dashboards" and possible configurations. I'm afraid that it isn't sufficient. Our demands contain year-to-year analysis (including custom fields). It also should be dynamic layer - so we thought about something like connection to BigQuery and then Looker Studio Dashboard.
Could you tell me something more about dashboards in JIRA? Maybe I overlooked / misunderstood something. Maybe you could advise us in terms of such integration? We think about API, but maybe there are some cheap connectors (we will have around 200 users).
Best Regards
Rafal Skrzeczkowski
Hi @Rafal Skrzeczkowski , from the info you shared I cannot really guide you as to whether or not dashboard gadgets would suffice. You can certainly do year of year analysis. There is not the ability to dynamically filter within gadgets.
Hi, which gadget can do YTY analysis? We're also dealing with structure that creates relations (not parent-child) between issues in saparate projects. This also can be difficult to overcome. Am I right?

It depends on your requirements. As an example, let's say I want to compare the number of issues resolved each year. I might create a custom field that shows the "Year resolved". I would use Automation to fill that in when the issue transitions to done. I would use a pie chart to display the "Year resolved" custom field.

ok, lets continue with this example. Can we display such information as line chart where on the Axis X we would have months and years are separate series?

Unfortunately not. You would be better served with addon apps or consider exporting and using excel/sheets.

Indeed, with the Jira's default gadgets it might not be possible to achieve this.
But there are many apps on Atlassian Marketplace that offers gadgets that can help you display the info you want, including YTY statistics. So why not considering the idea of using an app/plugin?
An example of such plugin is our Great Gadgets, which lets you display all kind of metrics specific to ITSM in Jira Service Management. Take a look on this article:
An effective dashboard for Service Desk and Customer Support teams in Jira Service Management
In addition, by using the Pivot Table & Pivot Chart gadget that this app offers, you can display all kind of statistics, including YTY, just like you do when using pivot tables in Excel.
Your challenging example "line chart where on the Axis X we would have months and years are separate series" can be achieved, but depending on what you want to display you might need some extra configurations in Jira (like custom fields and automatic rules for setting them).
