Is it possible to have a watcher receive Issue Created email?
I have an automation which adds watchers to specific issues but they only receive notifications after issue creation(Which makes sense logically, but wondering if any workaround to have watcher receive issue created notification as well)
Hello @Keenan McCrary
As the watchers are being added after the creation of the issue, the issue creation notification would not be sent to them.
An alternate would be to set the watchers while creating the issue itself and include the watchers in the notification for issue creation.

Hello @Keenan McCrary
Currently, the default Watchers cannot be added to the Issue Create. The alternate option for this is documented by Atlassian here.

@Gaurav I actually tried to follow those steps but I couldn't get them to work correctly and asked about it here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Service-Management/Adding-Watcher-to-issue-creation-screen/qaq-p/1764564?utm_campaign=accept_as_solution_reminder&utm_content=view-answer&utm_medium=email&utm_source=atlcomm#M83824

Hello @Keenan McCrary
This is great, you are ahead of me. As you are using a custom field to capture the Watchers, you can edit the Notification Scheme to send Issue Create notification to the Watchers. Please find below the screenshot for the same. Let me know if this helps.

Hello @Keenan McCrary
The issue creator is usually not notified of their own changes. You can check this from the Notification Helper. I would suggest you test this with a team member.

@Gaurav I raised the request as a team member which I thought would mimic a team member but maybe not?

@Keenan McCraryyou would need an actual team member or colleague who could be a watcher, similar to a real-life scenario.
