Hello, how do I export data from Jira to excel for reporting
Hi @Mercy Zambuko , welcome to the community.
Typically, you can export the results of a search query like by going into, 'Filters', in the main Jira menu at the top and choosing the option, 'Advanced issue search'
From here, you can either use the JQL Basic Search or click on the Switch to JQL button to write a more advanced query.
Once you have obtained the search results you want, you can see already in the menu that there are various options to open in Excel or to download the results using the 'Export' button -
I hope this helps you out. Have a nice weekend!
Welcome to the community. I agreed with what @Valerie Knapp suggested using Advanced search functionality to obtain your issue results, then create export for Excel.
To supplement what Valerie suggestion, I would recommend that you use the format the HTML format for the best result because Excel can open HTML file in a nicer format rather then just a CSV file. An other thing that you need to be aware of is that by default in the system, you can only export the 1000 rows from the search result.
Please refer to the following KB article when your result set contains more then 1000 rows and you want to generate the export properly - https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/export-over-1000-results-to-excel-from-jira-cloud-779160833.html
Hope this additional information also helps you.
