Help on summarize and create timelines of incidents from slack channel

Sylesh Haridasan August 28, 2025

I would like to explore Atlassian AI Summarize and create timeline incident in slack option

This is not working currently as we are getting ‘You can't execute this command since there are no incidents linked to this channel.’

Can you help me to use Atlassian intelligence to link and summarize and create timelines of incidents from slack channel

This behavior usually occurs when no incident is currently associated with the Slack channel. Atlassian Intelligence relies on a proper connection between a Slack channel and a Jira Service Management incident to work. Here’s how to fix it and start using the features you want:

Step-by-Step: Enable Incident Summaries & Timelines in Slack

1. Ensure Atlassian Intelligence is Enabled

  • This feature is available on Premium and Enterprise plans.
  • Confirm it’s turned on in Admin → Atlassian Intelligence settings.

2. Link Your Slack Channel to a Jira Incident, Either:

  • Wait for the ChatOps app to prompt you in Slack when an incident resolves, with an option to create a timeline.
  • Or manually use the command:
/jsmops create timeline

in the incident’s Slack channel.

3. Grant Necessary Permissions in Slack

  • If the integration is already configured but channels are not synced, go to your Slack workspace settings and tap the lock icon next to your workspace name in the Atlassian integration section to re-authorize channel data access.

4. Use the Timeline Command After Linking

  • Once the channel is linked to a Jira incident, you can run:
/jsmops create timeline

A modal will open to help you select key Slack messages and incident updates to include in the timeline. It then adds the timeline to both the Jira incident and the Slack channel.
