How can I change the parent of an object type?

Hi,

I have objects (instances) assigned to an object type (for example: "apple A" assigned to "apples").

I want to now move the object type "apples" underneath an object type called "fruit", and have "fruit / apples", "fruit / peers", etc. so that my "apple A" is now a "fruit / apples".

What is the best way to do this?

I can't find a "move Object Type" operation.

I thought maybe I can create a new Object Type under "fruit" called "new apples" and then move all my apple instances so that they are "new apples".

But I can't find a "change Object Type" operation on objects.

This seems problematic to me as it means I can't re-classify my assets into better hierarchies as my organisation changes.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi @Alastair Bulloch & welcome to the community,

It is just a matter of dragging and dropping the objecttype. See picture below.

Here I've two object types Building & Floor. By dragging Floor on top of Building I change the parent of the Floor to Building.

That's it.

I swear I tried that and it didn't let me do it! (without an error)

Having tried again, it works :)

Thanks for helping out!
