How can I disable 2fa? (I've been getting a "something went wrong" error)

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
I want to switch authentication apps (new phone) and when trying to disable my two factor authentication (to re-enable it on my new phone), I get the error as shown in the attached image. In my reading of the docs, if 2fa is required by my org, it should give an error to the effect. But this error makes me think something else is wrong. Any help?
