How to change status of issue based on linked issues

I have project A (Service desk) that creates an issue then links that issue to project B (Software) effectively creating a linked issue on project B.

When project B's status is transitioned to Closed, I want to change the status of the linked issue on project A.

I managed to create an Automation rule in project B, but it doesnt seem to change Project A at all. Any tips?

Make sure you have the rule set to either global or multiple projects (if multiple don't forget to include the other project you are working with).

Can be done in the Jira Settings > System > Automation Rules.
