Is it possible to restrict Tempo time logging to specific issue types?

Pavankumar October 3, 2024

It’s recommended that engineering only logs time against Epics and their child tasks. Please provide further details if possible.

Hi @Pavankumar

Yes, you can restrict Tempo time logging to specific issue types in Jira:

You can add the properties on each status for a particular issue type.

Go to Jira administration, then Issues > Workflows. Select the status to restrict, then click Properties. Add jira.permission.work.denied to the Property Key and add a Property Value as True. Publish the changes

Hi @Pavankumar ,

Yes, it is possible to restrict Tempo time logging to specific issue types in Jira. You can achieve this by configuring Tempo Account Permissions or using Jira Automation.

Here’s a quick solution:

  1. Jira Permissions: You can limit which users can log time on certain issue types by adjusting the Project Roles and Permissions Scheme.
  2. Tempo Account Configuration: Use Tempo Teams or Accounts and map them to specific issue types. You can then restrict users to log time only on issues related to those accounts.
