Jira Automation Rules: Copying text from forms, containing preformatted content.

Hello Jira Community,

I am trying to copy some text from a field in my form into a description of a new issue, using Jira automation. What's special here is that the text that I am trying to copy sometimes contains preformatted content, such as code snippets. I use the following command to access the text that I want to copy:

{{issue.forms.e79fa8af-81cb-4c86-82e9-918f98c348bb.last.stepsToReproduce}}

By using this approach, the copied text loses its form, meaning that some code snippets that before had correct indentations, line numbers, etc. now become just free text, without indents, with some random new lines, etc.

Is there anything I can do about this?

Just today, I ran into the same limitation. It's a shame that the markup gets lost when handling these rich text areas, and by simply copying the information around, it gets lost.

I don't think there is a solution for this.

On the public Jira (https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa ) there are multiple issues on this, but not relating to forms.

You could create a request there or you could reach out to Atlassian Support
