I am a relatively new Jira user (2 weeks) and uploaded my profile picture last week.
I now see this almost everywhere: in Confluence, in the community and in the sidebar in Jira - but not next to the "assigned" field - there I just see my initials DK in a purple box.
The same is true for a new colleague who joined yesterday - but everybody else in the team is shown as a little avatar next to the "assigned" field.
They said there was a setting in Jira some time ago, but seems that this is gone. So where can I set, that my profile picture is used as the avatar?
Just out of curiosity - Have you logged out/in since you made the changes?
Also, if you look at the "backlog" view, do you see the Avatar(s) or just initials?
I've perused the settings on your behalf and haven't found anything that stands out... I believe the avatar should be picked up by default.
@Carlos Garcia Navarro - That is certainly not a sufficient answer to the question posed above.

I logged out/in, restarted the computer, used different browsers and different computers. Nothing works, so it must be an issue in Jira.
The issue is confusing. In the "backlog view" of our DEV board, the avatar is missing, there are only the initials. But in the Kanban board view, there is the picture / avatar.
In the "backlog view" of our PO board, there is the avatar shown with picture.

I set the picture already before and had written this in my question
