Add a custom field to Request Form - Getting Context and Configuration aren't applicable to project

Ann Marie Lisak August 14, 2023

Hi, I created a custom field that I want to add to a project.  When I'm attempting to add to Request form, I get the 'Fields unavailable in the issue view - these fields will not be available in the issue view even if you drag them to the issue layout as the context and configuration aren't applicable to this project.

I want this to be applied to when Bugs are submitted on a specific project

I applied the field to the screen I want it to show up on

When I attempt to add it to the Request Form, I get the error of ....the issue layout as the context and configuration aren't applicable to this project.

The project and the issue type is applicable to the project.

Hi @Ann Marie Lisak

Do you have a context on your fields for the project you try to use them in ?

Are the fields in the screen for your project and issue type ? Do you see them if you display the Create form from JIRA (not JSM portal). Then when configuring the Request Type can you add them to the request type ? When does this error message appear ?

Regards

Context it's for a bug on a specific project

The field is added to the Issues screen

I cannot add the field to the Report form for the project.

Are the fields in the screen for your project and issue type ? Yes I think so, 2nd screen shot

Do you see them if you display the Create form from JIRA (not JSM portal).  I don't see  form for this Issue

Then when configuring the Request Type can you add them to the request type ? When does this error message appear ? 3rd screen shot is showing when I get the error, adding the field to Report Form

I'm hoping I'm answering all your questions, thank you

So you are configuring the request type of the project JSM and the issue type the Request type is mapped to is Bug, right ?

Yes.  We want the field that I created as Prioritization and Classification to show up only for Bug on a JSM project.  If the field is added to the Issue screen, why can't I add it to the form?

I don't see an answer to my question. I ended up deleting the original custom field I created and re-created it and it worked.

Weird, good to know you found a way to find a workaround to your issue.

Has there been a solution besides deleting the field and re-creating it. That is not a viable solution for me as I have used the field before and created a new context for a new project and now i am unable to add the field to the request form in JSM.
