Adding a specific smart checklist to subtask based off subtask name.

Hello

I am trying to find a way to add a smart checklist to subtasks based off the subtasks name.   I have tried a few different directions but either a single checklist will show up for all subtasks or the checklist will show up in the main issue.

Example of what I am trying to build.

  • Main issue
    • Subtask A
      • Checklist A
    • Subtask B
      • Checklist B
    • Subtask C
      • Checklist C

Thank you in advance for any advise that is given on this issue.

Hi @Joanna Whitley

Here is an example you can go through and replicate in your case:

Add checklist items to sub-tasks

Additionally, in Property value, you could:

  • add {{issue.properties."com.railsware.SmartChecklist.checklist"}} at the beginning to append checklist to an already existing one
  • use {{project.properties."com.railsware.SmartChecklist.templateId.<Template_ID>"}} to apply a template - check Template IDs

I hope it helps!

Unfortunately I have not been able to get this process to work.  Currently I have built the below setup under two of the subtasks.

  • Build smart checklist
  • found the number of the checklist
  • enter code
    • {{issue.properties."com.railsware.SmartChecklist.checklist"}}

      {{project.properties."com.railsware.SmartChecklist.templateId.55000"}}

I am guessing I am missing mostly simple once you know what it is.

Thank you

Joanna

Hi Joanna,

Thanks for sharing what the situation is. We double-checked the automation rule on our side and it should work fine.

Thus, to investigate your case in more detail, could you please reach out directly to our support team at smartchecklist@railsware.com

We would ask you to share:

  1. video recording and more details of what is not working,
  2. screenshots of the whole automation rule configuration,
  3. audit logs of the automation rule,
  4. whether the template ID that you are using (templateId.55000) is an ID of a Project template.

We would be happy to help you further to make sure this automation rule works for you too.

Regards,

Olena

After a week of retrying and reworking this,  The issue I am having is the checklist is showing up parent issue and not the sub task.  Is there a way to make it show up in the sub task?

Hey, @Joanna Whitley

Can you try adding a component to the automation rule like FOR EACH: Create a brunch > Brunch rule/related issues. Then search for an available option in Type of related issues field. (I've attached some screenshots)

If this approach doesn't help, please ask Smart Checklist support and I'm sure they will come up with something. You can reach out to the support team at smartchecklist@railsware.com

Hope this helps,

Thank you for your help.  The project is now live.  Once I make a backup copy of the project I will try that again.  It is possible I did not set something up correctly.  If it works I will let you know.

Thank you
